Welcome to our revamped website! I hope you enjoy it!

One of the new extras at our site is our first ever blog. My goal is to help pass on helpful homeowner tips that should help you avoid expensive repairs or replacements costs by providing tips on season orientated maintenance you can do all on your own.

Well, here we are in April already! Personally, I am excited because my wife just informed me that our four year old son is officially signed up for his first year of T-ball. But before we can play ball, we have to get through this rainy, melt down season. It’s important to make sure your basement’s sump pump system is in proper working order to avoid basement flooding and costly repairs.

To start, make sure the discharge pipe is free from any obstructions. Then locate the pump itself and make sure it is still plugged in–just in case you unplugged it for one of your Clark Griswold cords this winter. Next if it’s possible dump a five gallon bucket of water into the basket surrounding the pump, this will trigger the float on the pump and turn on the unit. Ensure the pump’s float shuts off and that it remains free from the walls of the basket. A float that sticks on the side of the basket will cause the pump to burn out from constant unnecessary use.

A working system should help keep your home dry and free from mold and mildew. If you have any questions, e-mail us at info@JBrothersHI.com.

Hope this helps!

  1. Thanks guys. It’s nice to see someone taking the time to help others out without profit being their driving force. Keep it up! Your guide is really clear
