This is the second year in a row for J Brothers! The winner will be announced in the July issue. Also, there will be a Best of Maple Grove Awards event at Rush Creek Golf Course on June 26 for the public to attend and visit with all the finalists in all 25 categories.

This basement has evolved over the years from an unfinished space for little boys to run their trucks and ride their bikes to a hang out for teens with air hockey, pinball machines and more to now a place for dad. The children have grown up and now it’s the perfect spot for entertaining the  empty-nesters’ friends and for the man of the house to unwind at the end of the day.  The room walks out to a patio for a cigar at the fire pit and provides more entertaining room in nice weather.

Notice the martini glass shaped sink, the television in the bar area, the curtains that provide sound absorption in theatre room, curved bar base with tile and other details that make it a great space!

There was a great article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Wednesday, February 1. One tip was to have five file folders and label them Action, To Do, To Read, To File and the last one with a category you may have a lot of paper for such as school papers, etc. When you get your piece of paper, make a rule that you will not touch it more than two times and opening the mail counts as the first time! Act on that piece of paper right away–file it or throw it!

I liked this tip–especially the part about only touching it twice. I tend to move my papers from one place to another so I’m going to try to adhere to this tip!

Induction cooktops are becoming very popular. They are really neat and amazing! Our friends have one and they were showing us how you can put a piece of paper towel on the burner while it is on, put a pan over it and the towel will not burn, but the items will cook in the pan! Gas cooktops are still the most popular. As far as ovens, double wall ovens are becoming more common.
